hmestay-trek

First day of the trek is a bit on asphalt road till about 30 mins, the road is just for village use not much traffic. From a bridge near the stream we turn right and start climb upwards and then follow the stream, beautiful views from the back side, there will be times of shades so can advise rest stops accordingly. There will be some stones blocks which need to be walked over, it is adventurous as well, and there will then a patch of walking on Jeep track, no asphalt though. Walk up and just before Ulley village are 3 stupas, wonderful for photography with mountains and sky in background and Stupa colour contrast. Ulley village is about 20mins away.
Final 5-10 mins walk on Jeep road (no asphalt just dirt track) as we enter the Village, it’s a small cosy village with wonderful views. Homestay is good but have only 4 rooms so more rooms available in adjoining homestays. In the afternoon we do a short hike up to reach 4000m mark just to pump ourselves and followed yak path to a small settlement perhaps upper Ulley with good views all around also it was a bit cooler so snow-capped peaks could be seen. We went back to homestay it took 30 mins down along the stream, with a stop at the school which is closed since 5 years, with board and maps still in the classroom. Morning hike 2 ¾ Hrs and Afternoon hike 1 ½ -2 Hrs. 5-6 Kms Total height gain 250m .

Day 07: To Hemis Shukpachen .
homestay-trek-3

If the weather is warm it will take a bit longer so god to have some breeze during the day We head towards the direction we came previous day and walk first half an hour on jeep track almost going lower, then turn right through a rocky patch, another twenty minutes or so to cross this and reach the base of the pass. The rocky formations add to the thrill a bit. From here we start the ascent to the perhaps highest point of the trek 4096m. After spending some time on top continue the descent to the village of Hemis. It is rewarding views across the pass and there is the option to hike a bit up for those who are interested. Total walk 3 ½ hrs. In the afternoon walk a round of the village then climb up to the newly build statue of the Buddha Shakyamuni Buddha statue (past Budhha), standing imposing on the village. 11 Kms 150m and 350m

Day 08: To Temisgam .
homestay-trek4

Start the walk to North West as we follow the trail near the holy juniper trees. We reach first past 3790 m almost a flat just a bit uphill before the pass. From the pass one can have good views of the Hemis village and the pass ahead. From here it is a bit downhill and then we start the gradual ascent to the base of Lago La. The final ascent to the pass is a bit demanding and equally exiting. After reaching the top there is option to hike a bit further up for those interested to get a good view of the landscape. From here we descend gradually to the village of Ang for lunch. From Ang it is around an hour to Temisgam. 12.5kms 250m 350m
